Romain Hourqueig

Co-founder - Fire engineer

Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (University of Ulster, Belfast)
SFPE president - French Chapter (Society of Fire Protection Engineers)
Member of CTBUH (Council for Tall Buildings & Urban Habitat)

Romain co-founded Studio Fahrenheit in 2019, bringing with him 16 years of fire engineering experience from various engineering design firms. He created and led the fire safety department at WSP France before heading the WSP UK teams in London for five years.

With a decade of service as a volunteer firefighter, Romain combines practical field knowledge with technical expertise in fire engineering and simulation to develop fire safety strategies for complex and ambitious projects, including 300m high-rises, commercial buildings, office spaces, residential towers and industrial facilities.

He is an expert in international regulations and standards (including UK British Standards, Russian SNiP standards, and American NFPA standards) and specializes in formulating fire and evacuation strategies that employ engineering and performance-based approaches.

Driven by a desire to exchange and share his knowledge, Romain is a regular speaker at international fire science conferences and provides training at the National School for Fire Officer Engineers in France.

He is also the author of several publications that address topics such as the spread of fire between buildings and performance-based approaches in fire risk analysis.
